Pure N8ive joins AJ Rafael at HI-FAP 2010 in Honolulu

Alex Taimanao from Maui, has recently joined Pure N8ive and the Core808 family. A former member of the Honolulu Boys Choir , and currently a student at Pacific University in Oregon. Alex is a member of several ensembles at the university including the University Chamber singers.

Alex is a tremendous singer and songwriter, and it is a honor and pleasure to have him join us.

Pure N8ive is a new music group, from Honolulu, Hawaii comprised of Taisen Abreu and Duncan Kamakana Osorio, graduates of Kamehameha Schools.  Taisen and Duncan met in high school and started to realize their musical potential after a few jam sessions.  Both members come from very renowned musical families, as Duncan’s father has won a Hoku award for the Song of the Year in 1980, “Hawaiian Eyes.”

Core808 producers Tony Anthony (The Rainbirds, Contact 99), Paul Yang (most known for his work on the Gran Torino soundtrack), and Soundscape Studio’s Tim Smith, pulled together their collective skills, and experience to cultivate the natural talent of Pure N8ive.

When asked about their musical background, both Taisen and Duncan attribute much of their passion for music to their family, starting at an early age.  Taisen entered a talent show for a local radio station at 14, placing 2nd among people over twice his age.  Duncan owes his success in music to his sister, Jamaica who helped him get over an early case of stage fright.

Pure N8ive released their debut single, “As Close As This” in December 2009 on iTunes, Amazon, Napster and most major digital music sites.
